What are KYL Rifle Matches?
The KYL drill challenges shooters to engage a series of progressively smaller steel targets, ranging from 10 inches down to 2 inches. With five shots, shooters must hit the targets in order while carefully managing risk. Each successful hit earns points, and they can choose to stop at any time to secure their score. However, a single miss wipes out all accumulated points for that relay. Each shooter has three relays to accumulate as many points as possible, making it essential to know your limits.
3 Divisions to Choose From—Pick One to Compete In:
1. Stock (Basic) – A factory rifle with no enhancements. Allowed basic optics includes iron sights, red dots, or a scope with a maximum of 6x magnification. A standard bipod is permitted. The combined MSRP of the rifle and optics must not exceed $700.
2. Modified (Intermediate) – A factory rifle with limited modifications, such as aftermarket cheek risers, bipod and a maximum scope magnification of 9x. The combined MSRP of the rifle and scope must not exceed $1,000.
3. Open (Advanced) – No restrictions.
Any aftermarket parts and enhancements are allowed.
-Please note that the dollar amounts serve as a reference to ensure fair competition. Shooters must inform the Match Director of their chosen division at sign-in.
Time:
Check-in at 9:00 AM.
-You must arrive on time to compete- late arrivals will forfeit their spot.

Age and Requirements:
Minor participants aged 12 to 17 must be accompanied by a parent.
Age 18 and older can participate independently.
What to bring:
A valid driver’s license or government-issued ID and if you have your Outpost Range card for discount savings.
A .223 or 5.56 caliber rifle, box of correct ammo, eye and ear protection.
Safety first! Wear closed-toe shoes and no low-cut shirts or blouses.
A water bottle with a screw-on lid is recommended to stay hydrated.
Expectations:
Arrive a few minutes prior to 9:00 AM for check-in. Do not arrive late.
If you anticipate any issues or delays with arrival, notify the Pro Shop in advance.
